There's a lot of anticipation and excitement swirling around Sunday. It's the day. The one I've been thinking about, and working for.
But today I realized what a friend told me several months ago....it's not about Sunday. It's about all the other days. The Saturday's when I got out of bed at 5, even when I didn't want to. The weekdays where I planned errands and to-do lists around runs. The days when it was raining, or cold, or so hot and humid it felt like running in a sauna. It's about how good it felt to finish a run. It's about the commitment I made to myself to do this thing.
So Sunday is no different than any other day. Just another long run. Except that instead of running alone I'll be running with 22,000 other people. As Cankle (who will be there completing her own long run!) says, it's just exercise day. With 22,ooo of our closest friends.
At least that's what I'm telling myself.
Yay! I'm so excited for you. I ran my first marathon 10 years ago this year. It is still one of my proudest accomplishments.
ReplyDeleteBut you're right, you've already achieved the goal-in preparing for this "thing." Now, just reap the reward of all of that hard work. :)
Can't wait to read the post-run blog update.
